2012 National Year of Reading @ Taronga Zoo
To celebrate 2012 National Year of Reading, I've joined forces with Taronga Zoo, Sydney and Dubbo, to offer schools some AMAZING video conferences and face-to-face sessions that bring books and animals together.
These unique sessions are designed to excite and inspire children about Aussie animals, about the environment and protection of species, and about reading books and learning.
Our first series of sessions will be held at Taronga Zoo (Sydney) and will feature myself and Zoo Educators PLUS some very special live animal guests!
Choose from 'Echidnas and Aussie Animals' or 'Bats and Nocturnal Animals.
During the sessions, I will read my picture books, Puggle’s Problem and Warambi and explain the inspiration behind them. Zoo Educators will introduce some amazing Australian animals with hands-on opportunities for students.
Workshops are aimed at Kindergarten to Year 4 students. Two options are available: face-to-face (by visiting the zoo) and video conference (you don't even have to leave your school, which is perfect for isolated areas).
Session Dates:
Wednesday 22 February and Thursday 23 February
Wednesday 28 March and Thursday 29 March
Wednesday 6 June and Tuesday 12 June
