About Me

I live on the beautiful Sunshine Coast in Queensland with my husband, my four children, and my dog, Lexie. I love the animals, the birdlife, the greenery, and the beaches that we have here and feel very lucky to be able to enjoy all of the wonderful things that nature has to offer.

​My most favourite thing in all the world (besides chocolate!) is writing. I write picture books, chapter books, novels, and series for children in the contemporary, fantasy, and non-fiction genres. My story themes include courage, love, understanding, anti-bullying, self-belief, friendship, and teamwork. I’ve won several awards for my writing and had numerous short stories, articles, and book reviews published in anthologies, magazines, and newspapers.

​When I'm not writing, or running after my kids, I'm usually travelling all over the place delivering talks and workshops at libraries, schools, bookstores, community groups, writers’ centres, and at literary festivals.

I have a real soft spot for animals so you'll find loads of them in my stories. Some of my favourite animals are meerkats, sloths, red pandas ... and llamas, of course!​
